Audio Transcription – Plus Cleanup

Audio is the hottest thing today, but many people still prefer to consume the content in written form. I happen to be one of those type of people. You should see all the eBooks I print out and have laying around in stacks of paper!

Podcasts & Speeches: You create the content once (video or audio only), have the audio transcribed, and you can use snippets of the text for social media posts. Add the content to your blog so people can come back over and over to refresh their memory. You can even go back and have your older podcasts and/or speeches transcribed. How many do you have sitting around that could be easily repurposed?

Online Courses: The rise in popularity of online courses has increased since many businesses have been forced to do more business online due to the pandemic. Why not provide the written transcript of each module of your course as part of the overall course, thereby increasing its value and what you can charge.

Coaching Sessions: A 45 or 60-minute coaching session yields a LOT of intricate ideas, feedback, encouragement, and hopefully assigned homework. But how many people really take good notes during these sessions? Sometimes their emotional overwhelm keeps them from taking full advantage of the insights you have to offer. Your clients will be excited and more likely to hire you if they knew they would be getting a transcript of each session (within 48 hours) so they can have a solid plan written down to refer to during the week. Of course, you will be able to assure them that their confidentiality with you will not be shared beyond the one person doing the transcription.

Zoom Meetings or Live Trainings (including Facebook “Live”): Don’t miss this opportunity. You put in all the hard work preparing for and presenting the meeting, now you can have the added benefit of the transcription of the meeting or training. However, because the content of the slides or screen shares are not included, the audio may not completely convey the proper message.

The Basics

Let’s look at the basics of how the Audio Transcription Plus process works:

  • A 60 minute audio will yield 6,000 to 7,800 words, which translates into 24-32 double-spaced, typed pages. That is a lot of content you can cut into smaller pieces and share on numerous social media platforms. Tip: Then you take the ones that had the most responses and put them in a separate folder to reuse in the future!
  • The investment is $60 for 60 minutes, with a 48-hour turnaround time. Minimum project is for 45 minutes ($45), each minute is $1 (i.e., a 90 minute session would be $90).
  • During our initial contact (via phone or email) we will discuss the audio(s) you wish to have transcribed, the length of each, and your time frame for turnaround.
  • You will then receive an invoice via PayPal to pay in advance.
  • Once I receive your payment, I will send you an information sheet to be completed for each audio, and you return it with the audios you want transcribed.
  • The audio does not need to be a stand-alone. It can be the audio of a video (you would forward the video to me).
  • When I do the cleanup of the audio, in addition to the proper grammar and formatting, I also remove any unnecessary repeated words (“and”, “uh”, etc.) so that the content flows easily. You won’t need to do any more cleanup before you begin to upload portions of it for social media posts (except add your headline and/or call to action).
  • Confidentiality is guaranteed, since I do all my own transcriptions.

Here’s another tip: Get enough audios transcribed on a single subject and you have the beginnings of a book (eBook or paper).
